Here is the latest communication to State Directors regarding E World in Louisiana:
Midwest State Directors:
There has been much speculation and rumor concerning the E World in wake of hurricane Katrina. Robert Boudreaux is on top of the situation and is meeting with the Lafayette CVB this week. We realize some teams have been contacted and had their reservations cancelled. More information will be provided as it becomes available. We are looking at several options; however, as of today we remain committed to Louisiana and hope that you do also and please ask your teams to remain patient for a few more days. PLEASE DISTRIBUTE THIS TO ALL OF YOUR DIRECTORS.
The people of Louisiana have more pressing issues to deal with than softball.
Your patience is appreciated.
Kevin Naegele USSSA Executive VP Midwest Division

Here is a message from Pelican Park director:
Hello,
We have received several calls as well as emails within the last few days. I would like to clarify a few things with everyone. The Lafayette area was not affected directly by hurricane Katrina. Lafayette and surrounding parishes are housing evacuees at this time. Several evacuees have been moved into shelters which have freed up several hotel rooms. Anyone that has plain tickets flying into the New Orleans airport will be routed to an alternate destination. There are airports in Lafayette, Baton Rouge, Lake Charles, and Alexandria that you can fly into rather than New Orleans.
The event will begin Thursday September 22, 2005. The manager's luncheon is scheduled at 11:00am (central time) at the Carencro Community Center, 5115 North University Ave Carencro, LA 70520. Opening Ceremonies begin at 5pm at Pelican Park with games beginning at the conclusion of the ceremony.
If you have not done so yet, you must enter this event through your state director immediately. Deadlines are approaching quickly please be sure your teams information is submitted in a timely manner.
Thanks, Pamela Beckwith Pelican Park Assistant Director Ph # 337.896.5000 Pam@PelicanPark.net

Here is press release from National Headquarters.
USSSA Press Release ----------------------------------------------------------------- Due to the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina and an Executive Order from the Governor of Louisiana, USSSA must cancel the Men's Class "E" World Tournament in Carencro, LA.
Teams still have the option of attending the Men's Class "E" World in Lancaster, CA or Sterling Heights, MI. Teams that have already entered the Louisiana World can either change locations or have their entry fee refunded.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of the Gulf Coast.
